This journey can take from days to months depending upon the species and how young the animal was when orphaned or how severe the injuries. Orphaned birds and mammals have to reach an age where they are able to look after themselves, find their own food and survive in the wild. Those with injuries must be 100% fit before they are released.

Wildlife rehabilitation is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week passion. Even if we were to give up rescuing today it would be 18 months before our youngest joey is ready to be alone in the wild. It can be heartbreaking, yet also very rewarding. This work is driven by a desire to see the animals released to go back to the wild and live as they were meant to.
